About the founder and owner
Those who work with Roland Binz benefit from more than 25 years of experience in corporate and crisis communications. Originally studying law at the University of Bern, he switched careers at a young age to become a journalist and editor at the renowned Swiss daily newspaper «Der Bund». After a special assignment as one of the first press and information officers for the Swiss military peacekeeping forces abroad, he spent eight years as corporate spokesperson for Swiss Federal Railways, where he often operated in the public spotlight, particularly in high-profile crisis situations.
Since 2009, Roland has been running his own highly specialized communications agency, Binz Consulting, which provides relief, advice and support to companies, organizations, institutions and foundations facing a wide range of challenges, issues and crisis.
In the intermediate period 2019/20, he took over on a mandate basis responsibility for group communications of Migros, Switzerland's largest employer. As Director of Communications, he advised the Board of Directors and Executive Board on all strategic projects and led a team of 190 employees who managed all Group communications channels and magazines. The major transformation phase included several company sales, the merger of the Corporate Communications and Migros Magazine departments as well as the setting up of a professional integrated working corporate newsroom.
Roland Binz is considered one of Switzerland's most experienced experts in corporate communication, crisis prevention, crisis management and crisis communication, having dealt with several hundred crises and countless challenging projects, transformations and reorganisation processes from his own experience. For many years, he shared his expertise as a lecturer at universities such as the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (HWZ), the University of St. Gallen (HSG), Swiss Public Relations Institute (SPRI) and the Institute for Journalism and Communication Lucerne (MAZ).
By the way, Roland is also familiar with stormy conditions, leadership and a sense of responsibility as an enthusiastic offshore sailing skipper.
